More sad news to report. The winner of the 2000 Seattle International Comedy Competition, Floyd J Phillips, has passed away. Our condolences to his family and friends.
With profound sadness, we join the many voices paying tribute to Peggy Platt, who passed away this morning.
A Seattle comedy legend, the only woman to have won the Seattle International Comedy Competition (in 1985) and a wonderful person…she will be missed.
It was an incredible season of comedy for the 38th Annual Seattle International Comedy Competition. We had great performances from all 32 performers. From the Preliminary Week shows, to the Semifinals and on to the Finals, we were told many times how strong people found this year’s comedians to be and how fun the shows were. We really had a great time bringing these shows to you.
We have the top five results for the night from Comedy Underground.
Just when you think this thing is locked down so you can make a prediction, standup comedy happens and it’s anyones guess. For the first two nights Matt Donaher was clearly the winner. Then Friday night, Myles Anderson took first place at the Kirkland Performance Center. At the Admiral Theatre, Nick Hart was the clear winner. Now it’s anybody’s guess.
The Kirkland Performance Center was sold out and absolutely full for our third show of five in the Finals Week of the 38th Annual Seattle International Comedy Competition. It was our only trip to the Eastside this year and it was worth it.
