Seattle International Comedy Competition
Jon Fox does not pay his bills
Why would a webmaster suddenly leave demanding money? Because it was money owed all along.
When Jon’s wife Anne became sick and was hospitalized in 2024, he never paid for all of the work for the 2024 Seattle and San Francisco Comedy Competitions. It wasn’t much, I know he had other priorities like saving his partners life, so it was not something that was pushed.
In 2025, after the San Francisco Comedy Competition, he told me outright he was not goiing to pay me for the event. At that time I was committed to producing the Seattle event, so I soldiered through hoping he would come to his senses and pay up. He did not.
In fact, he became beligerant about the whole thing. He defiantly said, “I didn’t pay you last year, why would I pay you this year?” This was interpreted by me as he knew full well he owed the money, but weaseled out of it using Anne’s health as an excuse. He event went as far as to tell me he felt he already paid enough.
So I quit doing updates.
There were other things as well. For decades I was the last to know about a show. I would talk to comedian friends who would ask why I had not published information on their show, only to find out that show was booked months earlier. Thats months of time I could have used to promote shows.
The end result is he stopped paying me and had his son, Sean Fox build a new website from scratch to take over my position. That website is so embarassing, I will not link to it.
So if you are wondering why the sudden change and why there’s a terrible website representing two different comedy festivals on the website of a third website with no obvious connection, now you know.

- Tyrik Woods Wins!Tyrik Woods is the winner of the 45th Annual Seattle International Comedy Competition at Laughs Comedy Club in Seattle. Curiously enough, he was also the People’s Choice winner the first night of the Final at the Washington Athletic Club, a reward that has no bearing on a final score, but it was definitely a little …
- Finals Night Five: Laughs Comedy ClubThis is it, the final show. Twenty nights of laughter come down to this one show. We like to think it’s a pretty big deal. Last year Governor Elect Bob Ferguson showed up, this year several people thought it was the strongest show they could remember. The Top Five Next up, we announce the winner.
- Finals Night Four: Mount Baker TheatreThe Top Five Sunday is the final show at Laughs Comedy Club. We will be crowning a new champion and one of these five guys is going to win it all.
- Finals Night Three: Field Center in Port AngelesUsually when we have a tie we list the Top Five comedians, even if we really list six. But when we have a tie in the Finals, there’s only five comedians. However, I usually put up an image of Globie to balance the five, so if you need the Top Five, add Globie in, since …

- Finals Night Two: Vashon TheatreOur show at the Vashon Theatre could be our oldest continuous venue. Before the Vashon came along, we used to spend Thanksgiving eve in Moses Lake, then wake up early and drive back to Seattle. Then we did a gig at Cannon Beach in Oregon. Now the only hassle is catching the ferry back to …
