The Final Final at Laughs
It was a show so good, even the Governor-elect showed up. Bob Ferguson won the election as the next Governor of Washington State, but he did not win the competition. Mostly because he didn’t enter. It was great to see him at the show.
It was a really hot crowd tonight. Most people including Bob, want to come to a show, forget about their problems and have a really great time. It’s also a fantastic opportunity to hear fresh voices speaking about issues that befuddle us all.
Laughs Comedy Club is final final and it’s a great place to have the final show. Save and Angela do an incredible job developing great comedy shows and comedy acts. This is the 20th show in 25 days at 17 different venues. That’s 20 great shows in under a month. This really is the largest touring comedy festival in North America and one of the most important and unique.
And this is the final final top five.
The Top Five
- Brittany Lyseng – Calgary
- Ola Dada – Vancouver
- John Gardner – Seattle
- Jess Everett – Tacoma
- Dylan Jenkins – Portland
Remember how we posted earlier that it was a five-way tie and leading to a photo finish? Would’t it be absolutely annoying if I wrapped up this post without telling you who won the competition?
But then we wouldn’t have the final final.
I should mention the final final is an old expression in drinking culture. You tell your friends, “we shall have one more drink and go home.” This is followed by, “OK, fine, one more, the final final.” Then two hours later you’re still at the bar and no closer to leaving.
There’s a legendary sports bar in San Francisco named after the term. I’m sure the 49ers will be by this week to warm up and have a few after their Sunday to Buffalo. Maybe a few Seahawks will come by Laughs to celebrate their day in New Jersey.
