Three Winners Seems Pretty WAC
You would hope that with only five comics, things would get less complicated. But then it wouldn’t be the Seattle International Comedy Competition. We didn’t have a single winner last night at the Washington Athletic Club We had three.
We started the Finals at a sold-out show with emcee Susan Jones in the Crystal Ballroom of the WAC. This round of the show is the first chance to really see what a comic can do with extra time. During Drew Dunn’s set, a woman stood up, walked toward the stage and began asking questions related to a joke he told a few minutes ago. I suppose that is one way to score high in audience participation. Obviously Drew handled the situation well since he tied for First, but we hope in the future audience members would enjoy the show from the comfort of their seats.
Top Five Comics:
- 1. Drew Dunn – Nashua (tie)
- 1. Phillip Kopczynski – Spokane (tie)
- 3. Landry – Kitchener
- 4. Harry J Riley – Spokane
- 5. Bo Johnson – Seattle
The People’s Choice Winner
We mentioned there was three winners. The Top Five only listed two of them. The Washington Athletic Club holds a special award for the audience favorite. I know it might sound funny, but sometimes the comic the judges choose is not always the audience favorite. The grand winner of the Washington Athletic Club Choice was Landry. He earned a certificate and a T-shirt.
